Eddy Merckx élevé au rang de Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur – lesoir.be.

For those of us not wanting to reach for the dictionary or Google Translate, Eddy Merckx was honoured in France today and made Commander of the ‘Légion d’Honneur’.  He was already a knight of the legion, receiving that honour back in 1975, but I suppose someone decided that it was time to upgrade him.  Well why not?

I mean, he certainly looks dead chuffed, doesn’t he?  Although that necklace he’s wearing does appear to be a little tight.  Not sure he’d be able to wear it and climb Ventoux, but I could be wrong.
